With the growing trend of gang violence lately, we took the time to sit down and interview Sheriff McCloud over the escalating violence and danger on our streets these last few weeks.
"Gang violence is an epidemic in this country. We see it in New York, in Chicago, Miami, and we've had bouts of it over the years in Los Angeles but this new trend is disturbing. How is the LAPD and the Sheriffs Office handling this latest rash of violence?"
"Our Officers and our Deputies continue to work day-in day-out to provide protection for the people of Los Angeles county and we are investigating every possible lead and will not stop until we have quelled this unrest within the city"
While the Sheriff sounds confident, our investigations show a different story. The recent assault and rape of Jessica Alvarez and an explosion within Little Tokyo have both been linked to activity between the Viper MC gang and rumored others which are all heavily active in the Los Angeles area.
"The assault on Ms. Ramirez was an unspeakable crime and we have arrested 4 members of the Viper MC club based on DNA evidence. Two of those members being in the clubs hierarchy. The MC President and Vice President are currently locked in solitary confinement in the LA County Jail. As for the explosion in Little Tokyo, we have reason to believe this is actually a dispute between two drug empires. Federal Authorities are assisting with that investigation."
"And what comment can you give to the rumors being whispered that the FBI is investigating an apparent leak within your department? We've heard from sources that the Sheriffs Dept may be involved in these disputes acting on behalf of one of the gangs?"
"Allegations of wrongdoing have been as much a blight on the Law Enforcement community as crime itself. While we categorically deny any such accusation, we will cooperate with any investigations currently underway or under review. This Sheriffs department has come along way since the 1990's and I will not have that progress ruined by a bad cop if one such exists. If we find anyone cooperating with those who work outside the law, they will be found and punished to the maximum extant."
The Sheriff talks a good talk but will this stop the rumors? A source within the FBI and ATF say they are not convinced. While no official or interview will go officially on the record, there are apparently a lot of eyes on our city tonight and some on our Law Enforcement.
